Certification Programs – FAQ

Start with the Open Water Diver certification. This is the first full scuba certification level under Scuba Schools International (SSI). It includes academic training, confined water practice, and 4 open water dives in Cancun’s Caribbean reefs.

Open Water certifies you to dive up to 18 meters.
Advanced (SSI Advanced Adventurer) increases your depth limit to 30 meters and includes 5 adventure dives such as deep diving and navigation.
Advanced is progression. Open Water is foundation.

The Stress & Rescue Diver program teaches you how to prevent and manage dive emergencies. It focuses on awareness, response skills, and diver safety. It is considered one of the most valuable certifications before turning professional.

Master Diver is a recognition level — not a single course.
It requires:
Open Water
Advanced Adventurer
Stress & Rescue
5 Specialty Certifications
50 logged dives
It positions you among the most experienced recreational divers.

After Rescue Diver, the next step is Divemaster — the first professional level. This allows you to supervise certified divers and assist instructors inside a dive center.

Yes. Cancun offers ideal training conditions:
Warm water year-round
Excellent visibility
Controlled reef environments
Professional SSI instructors
Many divers complete Open Water, Advanced, or referral dives here due to optimal learning conditions.

Safety is always the priority. Training schedules or dive days may adjust based on weather and ocean conditions to ensure the best possible learning environment.

MARINE PARK INFO

All activities take place within Costa Mujeres National Marine Park. Marine park access supports reef conservation and restoration efforts. Visitors are encouraged to avoid coral contact and refrain from using chemical sunscreen products.
